Business Development Representative – Healthcare / Medical Diagnostics (Remote)

A rapidly growing physician-founded healthcare startup is looking for an experienced Business Development Rep to join their elite sales team. They are pre-IPO with 140 employees, selling leading-edge molecular diagnostic products and consulting services to the healthcare industry. With an impressive R&D team made up of scientists and physicians, they are on the forefront of molecular diagnostics. Their company mission is to continue breaking new ground and improving pathology to achieve better patient outcomes.
As a Business Development Rep, you’ll be responsible for the initial stages of the sales development process. This is a remote position focused on customers throughout the US. Your daily activities will include reaching out to prospects via phone calls, emails, LinkedIn, etc. to drive initial contact, create interest, and work with team members to complete the sale. You will be responsible for developing key relationships with reference labs, physician office labs, and hospitals.
- Over 50% growth the last couple years, with resources being poured into R&D and expansion of the sales and marketing teams.
- Current revenue is $58M, with plans to grow to $100M in the next 3-5 years.
- New state-of-the-art research and manufacturing facility.
- Leadership team that is passionate about developing up-and-coming sales professionals – with potential to move up as the company grows (next step up is a Regional Account Manager role with on-target earnings of $250K).
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base salary $75-85K (depends on experience) to make $150-$170K at plan.

Hardest part of the job?
Getting access to the decision makers. You may have to get creative at times, such as calling into the lab during off-peak hours, or building a connection with an office manager or lab tech to create an internal champion. This role requires tenacity and the ability to ask the right questions to uncover what’s not working with their current supplier. The hardest part is not giving up.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of SDR or BDR hunter experience, including experience finding your own leads.
- Track record of top 10% sales performance.
- Passion for the healthcare space.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Strongly prefer experience calling on labs or hospitals.
